What you can expect on your first visit.

Please arrive 15-30 min. early... we need patient information, billing information, and we need to verify insurance coverage, if applicable.

If your top priority is discomfort or pain, then your first visit will focus on diagnosis and treatment to achieve pain relief.

If you do not have a pain priority, then the first visit is typically as follows:

You will have a general head/neck cancer screening examination.

An examination of your teeth and gums.

Any x-rays deemed necessary to assess your current dental and periodontal situation.

Dr. Bloom will review the xrays and discuss his findings with you.  (He uses digital xrays and they are available for review immediately.)

Dr. Bloom will discuss treatment options and will help you understand the benefits of the different approaches to treatment.

You will be shown Dr. Bloom's unique and highly effective methods for removing plaque... learning these techniques are the basis for preventing the plaque induced problems of decay and gum disease.

A cleaning may be performed at the first visit, if time permits.

Preparing a child for their first visit:

Please avoid sharing any unpleasant dental experiences.

Say nothing about pain or shots- don't say "it won't hurt".

If you think it will help, bring a favorite toy or stuffed animal.

Please take time to review any material we give you for your child to educate them... or read them any of the excellent books written for educating children about visiting the dentist.
